Furnace

Overview

High-temperature kiln for advanced materials processing. Creates Calcium Powder from Calcium Blocks (60 IPM), synthesizes Glass from Helium-3 and Calcium Powder, and produces ceramics. Unlike Smelter, Furnace handles multi-step thermal reactions. Pairs well with Crusher for powder production chains. Critical for mid-game progression into electronics.

How to plan with this machine

Furnace is a production machine on the Selenian track, unlocked at Selenian Level 4 (Corporate Terminal reward). Furnace is listed at 20 MW draw.

Recipes on this page: Calcium Powder at 60/min (3 Calcium Powder); Wolfram Powder at 90/min (3 Wolfram Powder); Titanium Housing at 30/min (1 Titanium Housing); Inductor at 30/min (2 Inductor). 8 more recipes are in the table below. Add machines from these rates after the in-game tooltip matches this save.

Furnace Fast Answers

Current Furnace SERPs are split between unlock questions, recipe intent, Smelter comparisons, and Public Test Branch or Furnace V2 chatter. This block answers the first-screen questions before the longer recipe list.

Unlock owner
Treat Selenian Level 4 as the planner-baseline unlock, then cross-check your terminal before you ship the bundle

The current site baseline still maps the Furnace to Selenian Level 4, but public reward rows can drift. Use the corporation planner and your live terminal together before you plan a whole production pivot around one old unlock table.

First key recipes
Calcium Powder and Glass are the first Furnace jobs most saves actually care about

A lot of players do not need every Furnace recipe on day one. The first practical handoff is usually Calcium Powder for hotter processing and Glass once the Helium-3 line is stable enough to matter.

Machine role
Use the Smelter for basic ingots and the Furnace for hotter chain work like Glass, Ceramics, and later electronics support

The clean split is not 'one machine replaces the other.' Smelter handles your first ore-to-ingot baseline. Furnace takes over when the chain needs Calcium Powder, Ceramics, Glass, and the support stack that pushes toward Synthetic Silicon, Chemicals, and higher-pressure manufacturing.

Trust boundary
If you searched Furnace V2, verify the released upgrade values before you rebuild anything

Update 1 brought Development Station upgrades to the live build. This site keeps unverified Furnace v2 power and recipe values out of calculator math, so check the in-game tooltip before using a v2 layout as a baseline.

Early-game role, power tradeoffs, and what to open next

The Furnace is not your first smelting stop, but it becomes a key early-game-to-mid-game bridge once you need calcium powder, glass, and other hotter processing steps that a Smelter cannot cover cleanly.

Its power consumption is modest enough to fit into a growing base, but the real trap is upstream support: Crusher output, helium routing, and enough stable generation to avoid thermal chains pulsing on and off.

What to open next: if Furnace recipes are now the bottleneck, check the corporations hub for the Selenian unlock route, then compare the Fabricator page and the power-scaling guide before you expand the line.

Strategy Tips
•Running 10 units requires 200 MW total power
•Check recipe IPM rates to calculate machine ratios
•Unlock at Selenian corporation - check Corporations page for full path
