The Ore Excavator is still one of the cleanest early unlock checkpoints on the current live baseline. It usually marks the moment a save stops feeling fully manual, but you should still cross-check your terminal before you re-route the whole first hour around one memory of the tech tree.
Ore Excavator
Automated mining device that extracts resources from Titanium, Wolfram, and Calcium nodes. Keep it on one connected power path through rails, platforms, or base pieces. The current Wiki lists 5 MW usage and Training Level 2 as the unlock; node purity changes the output from 60/min (impure) to 120/min (normal) or 240/min (pure), so size the downstream line from the live tooltip.
Ore Excavator is a extractor machine on the Training track, unlocked at Training Level 2. Ore Excavator is listed at 5 MW draw.

Update 2 is live. This site's latest checked release record is 0.3.5 (stability and building-mechanics fixes).
Calculator math uses only directly verified recipes and machine values. Community-mapped routes and high-risk unlock notes can still drift between hotfixes, so cross-check your save before an expensive build.
Current Ore Excavator SERPs are mostly practical: how to unlock it, how to power it, whether a nearby generator is enough, how output changes by node quality, and whether Ore Excavator V2 or PTB chatter belongs in the live answer.
The biggest current query cluster is power connection, not recipe math. Treat the Ore Excavator like a grid-endpoint machine: power follows your connected rails, platforms, stairs, and base pieces, so adjacency alone does not prove the extractor is actually powered.
Current community results keep surfacing the same confusion: output can drift with node purity or the exact resource patch, so a universal 1:1 or 2:1 ratio is weaker than checking the live tooltip on your save. Start simple, then size the downstream Smelter line after you confirm what that node is actually producing.
Update 1 made selected v2 upgrades available through the Development Station. The site does not merge unverified v2 output, power, or recipe values into the starter automation calculator, so check the current tooltip before copying a layout.
