A good base is more than a convenient patch of ground. It has to stay buildable as your factory grows, keep drones moving predictably, and leave you a practical way to reorganize later. Creepy Jar's Base Building Basics: Part 2 is the current official reference for those advanced building topics.

Evidence boundary for location advice

The official video explains base-building mechanics. It does not publish one universally best base location, fixed safe radius, exact damage level, or a mandatory ring layout. Treat those choices as save-specific and cross-check the current map, resources, and in-game tooltips before committing a long build.

What the Official Video Confirms

Building stability

The official video calls out the principles of building stability as an advanced base-building mechanic.

Drone Smart Path and priority

It introduces Drone Smart Path as the way drones find their route, alongside guidance on drone priority.

Upgrading Drone Rails

The developer says slower Drone Rails can be upgraded without first deconstructing them.

Whole-base deconstruction

The video presents a one-click solution for deconstructing an entire base.

Higher-tier buildings and Quartz

Higher-tier building unlocks and Quartz gathering are both part of the official advanced-building overview.

Choose a Location by the Next Constraint

There is no current official source for a single best coordinate. Instead, choose the location that removes the constraint slowing your next build: usable terrain for stability, resource access, the route you need to travel, or enough room for the next machine group. Use the interactive map to compare routes, then verify the actual terrain and unlock state in your own save.

Plan the Layout Before You Commit It

Separate the decision to reserve space from the decision to prescribe an exact layout. Sketch the next production group, its inputs, outputs, travel path, and expansion room in the Factory Planner. Then place it in-game only after checking stability and the live machine data. This avoids treating old community diagrams as universal rules.

Upgrade Drone Rails Instead of Rebuilding Them

The official video specifically calls out upgrading Drone Rails without first deconstructing the slower rail. That is useful when you are improving a live network: inspect the current upgrade interaction, keep an eye on Drone Smart Path and priority, and change one route at a time so you can see the effect on your logistics.

When a Rebuild Is the Better Choice

The same official overview presents a one-click whole-base deconstruction option. That makes rework a supported part of base planning, but it is not a promise that every layout should be torn down. Use it after checking the live UI and deciding whether the stability, drone-routing, or expansion constraint is worth the disruption.
